Britain's Missing Top Model

  • Dec. 29th, 2009 at 9:03 PM
Anyone watch this show? I really hope Sophie wins.
It's about disabled women competing to be models. It sounds weird, I know but it's actually quite inspiring.
I think tonight's is the season finale because next week (I believe) Last Restaurant Standing premieres. Or maybe that's the following week.
I'm way too confused about my tv schedule and since Merlin is off until next season and Doctor Who hasn't started yet, I'm in a tv watching fog.

Methinks I need a life LOL

Ehhh, maybe I'll start making icons again.

Sherlock Holmes

  • Dec. 28th, 2009 at 10:15 PM
Just saw the film tonight. My favorite character

I definitely recommend it. Typical Guy Ritchie approach to movie making and the chemistry between RDJ and Jude Law is fantastic. Rachel McAdams wasn't too bad herself :)

Invictus

  • Dec. 27th, 2009 at 5:25 PM
Fantastic movie. It only made me realize, yet again, how insular the US is to other issues of the world. I remember Mandela being freed and I remember him being voted President but other than that, I don't remember much. It may have a bit to do with the US not being a big rugby country.
I'd much rather watch rugby, or even footie for that matter, over football.
Morgan Freeman was great.
Matt Damon was awesome. Every movie I see him in just makes me ♥ him more.

If you get the chance, go see it.

Doctor Who End of Time

  • Dec. 25th, 2009 at 2:20 PM
If I'm spoiled for Doctor Who...and I know it is Christmas...but I will cut a bitch. I'm reading my flist very very carefully.
I am going to wait until BBCA airs it tomorrow then I will watch the BBC version to see what if anything was cut out.

Thank you for your time.

Christmas

  • Dec. 25th, 2009 at 1:24 PM
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas. Mine is going pretty well.
I received pretty much all I asked for...
Transformers 2
Angels & Demons
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Golden Girls Season 4
2 Sweaters
2 pairs of PJs
A carrying case for my DSi
HP 2010 Calendar
A snowglobe (I love these things)
Burts Bees Milk & Shea body wash plus 4 beeswax lip balms

And my surprise gift was a Keurig Coffee Maker!!! I had mentioned a while ago to my mom that I wanted one and I know they are kind of expensive so I wasn't expecting it. So happy that I got :)

That was pretty much it. I didn't get Star Trek which was something I really wanted but I can get that myself tomorrow.
I still have to make the mashed potatoes for tonight. We're having a ham dinner this year. I've prepared the sweet potato casserole and I also will be making green beans with almonds for the sides. I'm trying to take a lot of the cooking pressure off my dad who usually does everything.
I picked things that are pretty hard to screw up LOL

suggestion

I don't read a lot of fic because I don't many that I like. I read a nice little Merlin related story that was nice but I hate hate hate when people write a fic in the time period is set and then the characters talk like they are from modern times. At least put the effort in to kind of make the dialogue fit in with the time period.
I half expected the person to write something like...
"Yo, Arthur, what up bro?" Merlin said as he entered the room.

You know what I mean? Also, please please please don't substitute "Gana" for "Morgana". It just ain't right! and irritating at that. Thank goodness it was just one shot. If it had been more I wouldn't have read the rest of the story.

the best of 2009

  • Dec. 23rd, 2009 at 5:42 PM
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, reading would be it. Read poetry, fiction, newspapers, bathroom graffiti, essays, magazines, and advertisements. Reading expands your mind in ways video games and Farmville won’t. See books as an investment.

Sing. Sing in the shower, in the car, in the club, and while walking. Sing alone and sing with friends.

Travel. Travel. Travel. You will encounter different people, cultures, and cuisines. You will even encounter yourself.

Read the rest here.

So I've been thinking

  • Dec. 22nd, 2009 at 10:39 PM
I've come to the conclusion that "Sins of the Father" is the best episode of Merlin ever. Morgause comes into Camelot and kicks ass. She makes a connection with Morgana. Then you have Arthur finding out the truth about his birth and Merlin stepping in to stop the patricide. Merlin now knows the truth about Arthur's birth. The best scenes where when Merlin/Arthur went to see Morgause and then the scene between Arthur and Uther when Arthur is like "PICK...IT UP"
I love it.
